TEACHER TESTIMONIAL:  IDENTITY PROGRAM

SIR WILLIAM MULOCK SECONDARY SCHOOL

Ricardo facilitated a powerful and impactful workshop on “Attitude” to my class of grade 11 students. Ricardo successfully engaged the students from start to finish, fostering meaningful discussion among the students on the importance of a positive attitude, and brainstormed strategies on how to nurture one. Through a variety of activities, Ricardo got the students actively engaged in games, skits and exercises that highlighted different attitudes, and the impacts of them on self and others. The students enjoyed themselves immensely, and learned valuable lessons about the importance of a positive attitude. I recommend Ricardo’s Lifecore program without any hesitation.

Today’s experience with the workshop did bring me confusion and wonder at the start, but I was very willing to be apart of it as we were told that we would be brought out of our comfort zone so I got prepared. Most of the information he told us was fairly familiar but I was able to experience and learn new angles from it which gave me new insights. He was very good at expressing his intentions to teach us a lesson through his behaviour, body language and projection of voice. Today's experience may not have taught me something new, but it did give me new perspectives on it therefore I have changed my initial thought about it. It was also a reminder to be more aware of what I do that will impact others or myself, and vice versa. It was a reminder for me to respond positively and with love rather than hate. I often misunderstand a situation that may have occurred and I begin to overreact rather than analyze the situation and my role or impact on it. During the end of the workshop he began to touch base on things we could do to become more comfortable with ourselves, how to take off our masks and be more confident with who we are. This made me think what kind of masks I wear and why do I wear them. After he told us ways we could remove these masks and this almost made me cry, not sure why because I was still thinking about why I wear these masks and such, but this conversation touched base on something I didn’t even know I had. The presentation was very powerful and enlightening. I enjoyed it very much and look forward to experiencing more workshops like these.

I really felt like I was listening and participating in a TED Talk. He was a fantastic public speaker and chose topics that were relevant to our lives, and used modern examples. I was especially a fan of how he talked about Marvel and the Avengers. The scenes pushed me way out of my comfort zone, but in a good way. Overall, this was a fantastic experience and I learned a lot.

STUDENT 3

I really enjoyed this workshop. I thought it was really nice to be able to break out of our shells and comfort zones and just get to have fun with each other. I thought he had a lot of cool insights and ideas and some helpful tips to better ourselves. I think his words have inspired at least some of us to try and change for the better, and understand that it is okay to not be liked by everyone.

STUDENT 4

I really enjoyed the workshop and thought that it was good that it pushed me out of my comfort zone. I liked being paired with people that I don’t normally speak with and the drama part was really fun. At the time I didn’t enjoy being picked when I didn’t volunteer but when we were doing it I really enjoyed the activity. Overall a good experience.
